Jake has been feeling out of shape for a while now. Too long, he thought. His lifestyle just wasn't the healthy sort. It's not that he didn't have any free time, he just couldn't waste it on exercise.

*Well, I have to now*, he thought, frowning at the small exess mass of his stomach. He rubbed it thoughtfully as he sat before his computer, wondering what should be done. That's when his doorbell rang.

Even as he was getting up, the door slammed open, and a cheery figure almost literally bounced in.

"Sorry about that, I just couldn't wait for you to haul your backside to the door, so I let myself in!"

The figure, a girl of curvy proportions leaped on Jake, giving him in a tight hug.

"Don't worry, I placed the extra key in that"- She rolled her eyes sarcastically-"Super secret place. Really, Jake, anyone can find it under the rug. You should keep it somewhere safer."

"I'm glad to see you too, Chrissy." Jake replied, squashed a bit in his friend's embrace. She let him go, and looked him up and down. She tsked, and slapped his stomach lightly.

"My boy, you're letting yourself slip!" She laughed, as Jake cringed. Chrissy had been gifted with a good figure by default, and what with her enthusiasm for sports, her body was definitely something to drool over. Not too loud or close to her, though, because it also meant that she could deliver a mean punch when the need called for it. She shook her head to clear her face from a few errant blonde strands of hair, still smiling.

"I know, I know..." Sighed Jake, reaching for a cookie from the jar set neatly by his computer.

"Oh no you don't!" Chrisse slapped his hands away, and, still grinning, grabbed his hands, pulling him away from his machine. "You're getting out of this flat! Come on, put on your shoes, you're coming with me!" She almost helped him get dressed as he was hopping left and right, visibly exited for something.

"Alright, alright, what is it?" Jake laughed, putting on his sneakers. He couldn't help it, there was such an air of life and joy around Chrissy, you couldn't stop your face from grinning after being with her for five minutes.

"Come on!" She pulled him out of the door, and was already off to the staircase by the time Jake locked the door.

"And don't you dare use the elevator, you shmuck!" She yelled up, already a level lower. Grumbling a bit, Jake rolled down the corridor, and headed down the stairs. He was on the seventh floor, so he was already panting slightly by the time he reached the bottom, just in time to see Chrissy opening the heavy door in the front of the building.

"Chrissy, wait!" Jake shouted, but she was already out, heading somewhere. Jake cursed, rushing to the door before it closed, pushing it completely open again, just in time to see his friend vanishing off the nearest corner.

He rushed on after her, but she was always just a corner ahead of her. His breathing was getting harder, and some parts of his body was starting to hurt as well. On they went, winding up and down, through stairways and sidewalks, when, after almost fifteen minutes, Chrissy finally stopped.

Jake reached her, gasping for air, almost falling over. Chrissy just smiled, stretching herself as she waited for Jake to catch s breath.

"Well, we're here." She said, after a few minutes, when Jake was finally able to stand up straight.

"Here? Where?" He looked around, his breathing still a bit ragged. He then promptly sagged, groaning. "Oh, no..."

"Oh yes!" Chrissy grinned, waving her hand around. "Right where we wanted to be."

"But...why?" Jake asked, leaning against a wall. "Why run here of all places?"

It was Jake's house. Right where they started from.

Chrissy pat the wall, looking into Jake's eyes, smiling. "This, my friend, is called jogging. We ran around your block. You needed exercise, so here it is. Now, I'll be coming around at least once a week to keep check. I'm promoting myself to your exercise aid. And if I find you slacking..." She grinned. "Well, I'll chase you through the entire city, for starters."

Jake just groaned. Chrissy pat his back.

"Oh, cheer up! Don't worry, we'll have you back in shape in no time."

  She hugged him again.

  "Trust me on this!"
A serial, telling the story of our young hero Jake as he tries to get himself into a better shape. With the help of Chrissy, his old-time friend, he's ready to face the fat!
